Sometimes I’ll hear people say “I like that song title because it can have several meanings.”

I was feeling geeky this weekend, so I programmatically made a list of ambiguous words. It might give you some ideas for your lyrics, or titles for your poems/songs/stories/etc.

Here are the top words:

break, cut, run, play, make, light, clear, give, set, hold, draw, take, fall, pass, head, call, carry, charge, catch, check, turn, point, close, get, open, cover, lift

How did I do it? It’s not hard at all; it’s basically like scanning a dictionary, and picking the words with the most definitions. More specifically, I wrote a program that finds WordNet terms with the most “synsets”.
